BQ76952: Inquiries about UL standard certification

Part Number: BQ76952

Hi,

When manufacturing an end-equipment using the following products from a customer,

there was an inquiry about whether it would be a problem in obtaining UL standard certification.

Can there be a problem in obtaining UL standard certification when using the following products?

IC-MCU

TMS320F280049PZ,Value

IC-AFE

BQ76952

IC-LDO

TPS70933QDBVRQ1

IC-DC-DC converter

LM5164DDAR,LM5164DDAR

In my opinion, UL standard certification does not seem to be a problem because it is an end-equipment.

However, is it possible to check if each of the above products has UL-related certification or if there is a required product?

Thanks.

Regards,

MJ

  • Hi MJ,
Thank you for your interest in BQ76952.
UL standard certification is indeed a system-based certification. As such, BQ76952 is not UL-certified.|
BQ76952 is a Functional-Safety Quality Managed IC (full explanation of what it means here) and we are preparing a few collaterals including a FMEDA and a Functional Safety manual to help our customers pass their system certification. These documents will be available in 1Q21.

  • Hi, David

Are you saying that for parts other than the BQ76952,

there is no problem with obtaining UL standard certification?

In other words, are the other parts UL certified?

Is there a way to check if each component has UL certification?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    MJ

  • hi MJ,
I can comment only for BQ76952, which is one of the parts my team manages.

You have several options to find the devices based on their TI-based level of functional safety:

    1. Use the link I sent you yesterday: you will find there  "Search for products by TI functional safety category"
    2. Go to the product page of the device you mentioned above then click on its family then products, then select the functional safety category: it will list the products in this family based on their level of functional safety.
    3. Create a new post for each of the devices you listed and the appropriate team will answer you
