LM5022: PIN6 to PIN7 Short circuit

Part Number: LM5022

Dear Ti ,

1. Attached is the relevant schematic diagram. Please help to see what causes the short circuit of Pin6 to Pin7.We produced a small batch of 3000 with 50 faulty chips. In Schematic diagram Pin3 empty.

2.We did a decape analysis. They found LM3430A inside. Is this normal? Is not consistent between different batches of chips?

  • Hello,

Could you show the entire die picture?  The portion of the die picture shows the bond pad damage, which is usually a sign of over voltage but we need to be sure.  In your schematic you also have a 3.9V Zener placed from the EN node and GND.  Is the Zener intact or also damaged?

Regarding the internal labeling, the LM3430A may be possibly the original part number during the development phase but it was re-assigned to be LM5022 when finally released to market. It should not be a concern here.
