BQ76930: schematic review - device does not respond until cells are disconnected and connected again

Hello Team,

we have a problem with BQ76930 in our application, the device does not respond on I2C commands until we disconnect and connect the cells again.

What can be the reason, how to troubleshoot this?

We would also like to share the schematic for a review (offline via email).

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Bart,

If I2C gets stuck the standard method to clear the bus is for the host to send clocks until the device releases the bus. If a glitch has the device holding the bus low the clocks will clock out the byte until the SDA is high, then the host can send a stop/start.

Check for noise on the I2C lines.

I think you can send an attachment in a friend request, or send the request first to set up a private message.

  • Hello,

    thanks for the feedback.

We have not noticed any noise on I2C lines.

Do you have some feedback regarding the schematic?

  • Hi Bart,

Thanks for the reminder.   Sent response to the message.  There were odd connections in the filtering and recommend a resistor from DSG to the FET.
