TPS543620: Setting SS to faster than 0.5ms

Hello E2E,

I have 2 questions regarding the SS time on the TPS543620. For the SS times listed in section 6.5, were those measurements taken on a standard EVM? Also, is the rise time 10-90%?

Also, if the goal is to boot up the device as fast as possible, are there any draw backs to pulling MODE down with lower than 1.78k? What would be the limit there?

Hi Russell,

1) The soft-start times presented in the datasheet were measured on an ATE open-loop (no output filter) and are from 0-100%. The measurements are not taken on a standard EVM but they are the same for a standard EVM.

2) The MODE pin can only select between 4 discrete options for soft-start time: 0.5ms, 1ms, 2ms, & 4ms. As there is no valid configuration for MODE resistances below 1.78k - the lowest possible soft-start time is 0.5ms.
