BQ34Z100EVM: Error 1470 when updating chemistry

Dear all,

I'm trying to update chemistry value on my bq34z100 via the evaluation board and bqStudio but I always get Error 1470.

First I use command UNSEAL_FULL_ACCESS then I try to program the board, without success. I can read all parameters, so I'm sure that I'm in "unsealed" status.

bqStudio: I tried both 1.3.101 and 1.3.102, same results

Chemistry file 856

I already try to restart the board without success.

Hello Massimo,

Are you able to write any of the DF or other chemistry IDs?

If you have sealed the gauge you will have to unseal and give full access to program the chemistry ID.

Actually I'm in "unsealed full access" mode but I can't write anything.

Always get the error "A read of data written failed comparison"

Can you try re-flashing the .srec file? Also make sure the gauge gets auto detected by bqStudio, otherwise you may be using the wrong bqz.

Dear Wyatt,

I tried to write the srec file, the operation completes succesfully but when I try to write a parameter I get always the same error 1470.

I tried to reboot the board, same result.

The gauge is read properly, bqStudio shows 12'906mV and my voltmeter marks 12.90V.

Hello Massimo,

You will need to unseal the gauge to program the chem ID, it looks like from the bit registers the gauge is sealed (FAS and SS).

Hello Massimo,

It looks like it should be uploading correctly, if you are unsealed full access with the firmware from the product page and the most updated bqStudio test version there should be no issues.

A few suggestions

1. Check data flash setting Configuration->Power->Flash Update OK Cell voltage. The cell voltage as seen by the gauge must be higher than this value, otherwise writes to data flash fail. The error message "A read of data written failed comparison" as seen in the image can be caused by low cell voltage.

2. BATLOW is set. This can cause data flash writes to fail.

3. IT(Impedance track) is already enabled on this gauge. Chemistry must be programmed before enabling IT. It may be worthwhile to try programming the default srec and try again.

Sorry for late response, I didn't receive any e-mail

1) Flash Update OK Cell Voltage is set to 2800mV, my battery is 12'804mV so this is ok

2) How can I reset that flag?

3) Where can I find the default srec?

The default srec can be downloaded from this link.

BATLOW threshold is set in data memory. If you have a voltage divider then make sure to verify that Voltage divider related parameters are set correctly.

Configuration Discharge 49 8 I2 Cell BL Set Volt Threshold 0 5000 0 mV

This flag is reset when voltage goes above set threshold.

Many thanks, I wrote the standard file and then I'm able to program the chemistry I want.

If I try to reload the old configuration I face the same issue so I think there is a misconfiguration in my old file.
