LMR14030: Question about RT resistor value.

Part Number: LMR14030

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is manufacturing their new products which uses LMR14030 as main power supply.

In their manufacturing, they mistook RT resistor value. The correct resistor value was 23.7kohm for 1MHz switching frequency.

But they have assembled 2.37kohm (Actual switching frequency is about 4MHz) by mistake.

In their final product test, they realized that 2.37kohm resistor valeu was wrong.

So they changed the RT from 2.37kohm to 23.7kohm.

In this stuation, they have the following question.

Could you please give me your reply?

 Q. If any absolute maximum ratings are not viorated in operation with 2.37kohm RT,

can these LMR14030 be continued to use after RT changed?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya.

  • Hi Kazuya,

Please check the SW rising edge ringing at 4MHz and max Vin during LMR14030 soft start period, if the ringing peak value is below 44V, then should be no damage to IC and it still can be used.

Please note that measure SW spike with short Probe ground ring

  •  Hi Andy,

Thank you very much for the prompt reply.

I will ask the customer to chek the SW rising edge in the conditions and with short probe ground ring.

Thank you again and best regards,

     Kazuya.
