TPS54160: Output impedance does not match expected results

Part Number: TPS54160

I am simulating output impedance of the TPS54160 power supply, and I am seeing results which do not match what I would expect.

I would expect the output impedance to start high, dip in the center, and rise again at higher frequencies.

The simulation I am using is also included. What am I doing wrong?

  • Hello Jacob,

Let me get further input from the internal team. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Thanks,
    Alejandro

  • Jacob,

The output impedance of the simulation seems to be okay.

The output impedance will start off low because the loop gain is high at low frequencies. As the frequency increases the loop gain will drop and output impedance will increase. Eventually, there will be some peaking due to the loop dynamics.
And at frequencies above the loop bandwidth, the loop gain is less than one, so it can't help but reduce the output impedance.

    Regards,
    Alejandro
