TPS62160: How to calculate the minimum VIN

Part Number: TPS62160

Hello team,

My customer is trying to make an TPS62160 3.3V circuit by using the peripheral circuits in the attached file.

Can you tell me how to calculate the minimum VIN voltage in this circuit?

I received only this material for now, but if there are any other necessary information, please let me know.

Best Regards,
Ryotaro Fukui

  • Ryotaro,

As the TPS62160 supports 100% Duty-Cycle operation, Equation (5) in the TPS62160 datasheet defines the minimum input voltage at which the output voltage can be maintained:

    Notes:

    • Any additional series resistance (ie. R124 in above schematic) should be added with the (RDSon+ RL) term above
    • If Iout is notably small (ie. < 1mA), you may also need to take into account the added load of the feedback current [Ifb = Vout / (R188+R120)]
    • As the input voltage decreased (Vin --> Vin_min) the TPS62160 switching frequency will decrease as it approaches 100% DC (Fsw = 0)

    Sincerely,

    -Matt
