Hello Team,

Good day.

My Customer has received some failed units from the field and they want to determine the root cause of the failures. They can only get to the circuitry by disconnecting the circuit board from the battery (4-cells) pack. They want a simpler and safer method for debugging so their question is if it is okay to replace the batteries with a resistive load just for debugging purposes?

Hi Renan,

For debugging the fuel gauge we usually look at the .gg and log files. A resistive load will be fine though.

Hello Nick,

My customer can only connect to 1 or 2 of the batteries using the Battery Management Studio. What specifically should they look for using Battery Management Studio other than the battery is not charging?

For the rest of the batteries, they cannot communicate with the packs so they need to debug the hardware. The pack has 4 cells. Can they replace each cell with a 100K resistor - so 4x 100K resistors in series?

Hi Renan,

There is quite a few things we generally look at in bqstudio. They can upload an image of the register and bit regsiter along with .gg and logs.

100k resistors are fine for emulating a battery.
