BQ34Z100-G1: Stuck in Status 0x05

Hi again,

after changing parameters, trying to get Status 0x05, reprogramming the device so I can change the values in data memory againg because i was stuck in Status 0x04 i finnaly made Status 0x05 last Friday.

But now I am charging, relaxing, discharging, relaxing the 3rd time and I can't get status 0x06. These points I think are a bit wired:

I see the Grid Number is going up while discharging, but I can't remember that I have ever seen a higher number than 10
In the relax after discharge phase the Volt is going down, down, down until it has really no power more. Then The BQStudio can't connect to the BQ34Z100G1 anymore. The Battery is still connected to the EVM but no Charge or discharge-resistor are connected on the 3. Pin.
The "True RC" and "True FCC" doesn't shows the correct value always but after the (I think) discharge phase it shows the real mAh for my battery Pack. But the "Remaining Capacity" and "Full Charge Capacity" only shows a 1/4 of the real Capacity.

But nevertheless with my "I think" and "remember", I have attaced the log and the "SREC" File for you to see whats my problem.

Scenario: I've got 8 Panasonc "Eneloops" BK-4MCCF in series. ChemID: 0644. All other Data Memory configuration should be availabe in the ZIP File.

I really hope you guys can help me.

Hello Benjamin,

Can you share your GPCCHEM report as well? This is usually one of the first things that can cause issues with the learning cycle. Also your .gg file for config information.

I see your discharge is pretty low, what is the capacity of your battery?

Hi,

see below the GPCCHEM File, the report and the GG fIle. The default capacity stated on 1 Cell is min. 750mAh with a typical 800mAh. I've uploaded the Specsheet of one of the Cells. (They are configured as 8 cells in series)

Hello Benjamin,

The chem ID is showing a closest match around 10%, usually we like to see it lower than 5%. Can you try running the GPCCHEM cycle on a single cell? Sometimes the cell interconnect resistance prevents the tool from finding the best chemID.

Hi Wyatt,

unfortunately it's not able to do a single Cell GPCCHEM Cycle. I could do an 4 Cell in Series GPCCHEM Cycle. This is a one "Pack". But I doubt it would get better?

Are the Settings (gg file) more or less ok?

Hello Benjamin,

I have seen instances where the tool finds a closer match using single cell because of the interconnect resistance.

What have you changed from the defaults in your .gg?

Hi Wyatt,

unfortunately I have now a different problem with the BQ34z100 and i will come back to this issue, after solving the other problem. (Device is not detected anymore as BQ34Z100 but as 0001_0_02 at Adress 0x16. It's discussed here -> )

Hello Benjamin,

You can resolve the other issue and come back to this one, we usually try to keep each thread to one issue.

The gauge is in ROM mode when it responds to 0x16, when you update the firmware it should take you out of ROM mode at the end, those commands are from the end of the bq.fs file.
