BQ34Z100-G1: Achieving the Successful Learning Cycle (SLU903)

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, , BQ40Z50, BQ28Z610

Hi Team, we do have some questions for this application note.

from Section 3.1, Initial Qmax Update Criteria of Achieving, in "The Successful Learning Cycle (SLUA903). Applying a learning cycle with a TI BQ34z100-G1 fuel gauge connected to Li-Ion batteries and controlled under bqStudio V1.3.101.
1) What is [OCVFR] bit in the bq34z100-G1 case?
2) What is [REST] bit in the bq34z100-G1 case? Is [REST] related to the Extended Command StateTime()? Or is [REST] related to [OCVTAKEN] in Bit7 of the low byte in the DF/Configuration/Registers/Alert Configuration?
3) What is [QMAX] bit in the bq34z100-G1 case? Is [QMAX] related to the Extended Command LearnedStatus() bit3?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,

-Mark

  • Hello Mark,

If you check Appendix D in the bq34z100-g1 TRM it has a flow chart of the steps specific for that gauge to complete a learning cycle. SLUA903 is better for bq40z50, bq28z610, but it still has useful information.

    Sincerely,
