TPS25221: Question about Rlim.

 Hello guys,

 One of my customers is considering using TPS25221 for their next products.

 They have the following question about RILIM. Could you please give me your reply?

 Q. We'd like to set 1.0A as ILIM.  According to Figure 24, Current-Limit Threshold vs Current-Limit Resistor (RILIM) on page 14 of the device datasheet(SLVSDT3D),

     RILIM(typ) is about 55kohm for 1A. Also the ILIM variation range is about 900mA~1100mA.

     While RILIM(typ) is about 974mA for 1A acoording to equation (1) on page 14. Also the ILIM variation is 721mA~1328mA.

     My question is the below.

     Which is closer to the actual current? the graph or the equation?

     Correct question is the below.

  •  Hi Kazuya,

    There are 3 types current limit, is for min, nom, and max like the below capture.  Thus, for normal condition is close  to nom value. And if under low or high temperature or something, it will be min or max.

     Also let me explain about their question again because my previous question was not good.

     They want to set 1.0A as ILIM.  

     When RILIM is 55kohm. ILIM(Min), ILIM(Typ), ILIM(Max) are 0.9A, 1.0A 1.1A, according to Figure 24.

     When RILIM is 55kohm. ILIM(Min), ILIM(Typ), ILIM(Max) are 0.721A, 0.974A 1.328A, according to Equation (1).

     As you see, Min, Typ, Max vlues are different between Figure 24 and Equation (1)

     Their question is the below.

      Q1. Which is better to use to get RLIM value for 1A, Figure 24 or Equation (1)?

      Q2. Which is more accurate for Min/Max value, Figure 24 or Equation (1)?

    Figure 24 and equation (1) are the same, there are ok for both.  Usually we calculate according for nominal value.
