LM2678: 24V to 8V/12V 5A buck down for DC motor power

Part Number: LM2678
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMR14050, LM61460, TPS40057

Hi,

I want to make a tiny motor board controller the Input is 24V and my motor are DC at 8V(or 12V) max.

The PWM controller is 40Khz capable.

I'm would like to know if the LM2678 buck down 12V/5A schematic deliver 12V even if the motor are off or if a continous load is needed to get the 12V

Is this chip is reliable for a motor application with the motor PWM commutation ?

Thanks
