TPS1663: Does TPS1663 meets the requirements of the DIN EN 61010?

Hi,

I would like to use TPS1663 part as my protective device.

May I know does it meets the requirements of the DIN EN 61010?

DIN EN 61010 mentioned regarding fire safety:

“If an overcurrent protection device is used, it must be a fuse or a non-adjustable and non-self-restarting electromechanical device.”

Hope can get answer for this.

TPS1663 can be used as electronic overcurrent protector in fire safety systems. I also recommend you to cross verify your product certifying body.

Hi Omar,

The overcurrent protection threshold of TPS1663 is adjustable via a resistor at ILIM pin.

How about TPS16632? It was stated in datasheet as below.

"The TPS16332 device integrates adjustable

output power limiting (PLIM) functionality that

simplifies and enables compliance to standards such

as IEC61010-1 and UL1310."

If this also not comply, do you have any other suggested eFuse that comply IEC61010?

Hi Syukri,

A PTC or fuse has to be used in series with eFuse to comply to the standards IEC61010-1 and UL1310. The overcurrent and power limiting features of TPS1663x helps to meet the safety levels defined in IEC61010-1 / UL131
