BQ34Z100EVM: After Programming wrong detachted Device?

Hi,

I was trying to do a correct learning curve. And after I found out I had set a wrong parameter (which can't be set after in IT_Gauge Mode) I decided to start from the beginning. So I ReProgrammed the BQ34Z100 over the EV2400 (newest version) with the bq34z100_G1_v0_16_build_17.srec which I have downloaded here at TI (I've done this a few times without any issues). But now I can't get anything working again.

Restarting BQStudio the device couldn't be found correctly (which it did until now). It also states it has Auto Detected Device : 0001_0_02 @ 0x16 (Normally it's 0100_0_16 on Addr: 0xAA).

It looks like the programming has crashed the BQ34Z100. I am still able to reprogramm with the above image file but it is still now working.

Is there any way to completly reset the BQ34Z100EVM? Or maybe it's the EV2400 which doesn't work correctly?

Hi Benjamin,

Your device is most likely still in ROM mode after you programmed it. To get out of ROM mode, please try running the following in Advanced Comm in BQStudio:

W: 16 00 0F
W: 16 64 0F 00

Hi Jessica,

I was able to send thos two commands in BQStudio but nothing has changed. I see, that the Commands made no error, but the wrong device number is still there. And if I try to refresh the dashboard it shows the error on the error page:

No acknowledge from device. Register Refresh 08:03:17

I also disconnected the EV2400 and the battery from BQ34Z100EVM and reconnected it. But this did not helped

Hi Benjamin,

When you re-programmed your device did a progress bar appear after clicking "Program"?

Yes, there is a progress bar successfully going thrrough. In the Status Bar after the Programming it states: Operation executed successfully

Hi Benjamin

When you sent the commands I mentioned earlier were they successful? Can you compare what you did with this post? Do you have another EVM that you could test this with? There is a chance that the board is damaged.

Hi,

yes, both commands have been successfully send. I can also read from the device (lots of zeros and few hex numbers) so it seems to be working.
