bq2402x Battery Charger query

Hi,

I wanted to charge a li-ion battery at 100mA or minimum. Battery capacity is of 2200mAh. I presume that this would avoid any need for temperature protection. I was attracted to bq2402x  seeing the "fault detection" technique using timer.

Since I am Charging at 100mA it will take 22 hours to charge the battery. In this scenario timer will time out as the battery wont charge fully within 10 hrs max of its time out period signaling a faulty battery piece.

Is there any technique to extend the timing and still assert faulty in case of battery failure....

You can disable the fast charge timer by using the \TTE & \TE pins. These digital input pins are used to disable or enable the fast-charge timer and charge-taper detection. A low-level signal on this pin enables the fast-charge timer and taper timer, and a high-level signal disables this feature. By disabling the timer you will have more time to charge your battery without the interruption of the timer.

Also you can increase the charging current from 100mA to 500mA.  When charging from a USB port, the host controller has the option of selecting either a 100-mA or a 500-mA charge rate using the ISET2 pin. A low-level signal sets the current at 100mA, and a high-level signal sets the current at 500mA. A high-Z input disables USB charging.
