BQ76952: BQ76952

Part Number: BQ76952
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76942, BQ76930, BQ769142

1) Is stacking possible with BQ76952 or BQ76942 ?

2) My targeted design is 18S. What could be the best solution for it while using ( BQ76952 / BQ76942) either of these ? will i be able to make 18S config?

  • Hi,
Yes, BQ769x2 monitors can be stacked. Please note that they do not have a stacking interface so additional components (isolation level) will be needed as implemented for instance in the TI Design TIDA-01093 with the BQ76930 monitors

You can use 2 BQ769142 (2x14s) for instance. BQ769142 will go to production soon. BQ769142 belongs to the same family of monitors as BQ76942 and BQ76952.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. Will there be any single IC that is capable of 18 Cells in future from TI which has functionality thats similar to BQ769X2 (Mainly the driving of FET's from the IC itself). If yes, when can it go for production or preview ? since most of the the automotive battery pack companies are now a days going for 72V system, all the clints are looking for 18S single IC.

  • i have One more doubt that, in TI Design TIDA-01093 while cascading 2 IC's, near the FET control "OR GATE" was used. should it be an AND GATE?. because, if the upper IC cut's off, the lower one also should cutt off at the same time in the single battery pack?

    Thankyou

  • Hi,
I can comment only on the parts that are in PREVIEW or ACTIVE.
