BQ78350: Programming options for mass production / automation

Part Number: BQ78350
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, ,

Hi,

We want to program and calibrate the bq78350 with our own SW Tool because using Battery Management Studio is extremely manual, and is not suitable for mass production.

I did not find a clear documentation to transfer a golden image (srec file) to the bq with own software tools. So I have the following questions / problems:

Question 1: Is there any recommendation on how to program the bq78350 from the .srec file, in a way that can be automated?

Question 2: Is there any recommendation on how the bq78350 can be calibrated without using bqstudio?

Question 3: Do you have any suggestions for interfaces / tools / libraries that can be used with Python, with the bq78350?

Thanks, Tom

I have seen other similar questions on the forum (link), and see that some information was sent in a private message... Would it be possible to get this information? I have already read the other documentation etc. linked in this post.

  • Hi Tom,

Thanks for accepting my connection request. I will send you some information about production programming in a private message with links to download tools.

Just a couple points for others who come across this post. We recommend the BQ78350-R1A device - this is the orderable device that comes pre-loaded with the latest version of the R1 firmware. It is identical to the BQ78350-R1 with improved robustness to the Shutdown routine, otherwise it is functionally equivalent. Some applications may need features that are only available in the BQ78350-R2 firmware (like pre-discharge). In this case, you would need to write the R2 firmware using an srec. If you are using the BQ78350-R1A and do not need to upgrade to the R2, you may not need to load the entire srec which can be time-consuming, but you can load only the data flash.

I will close this thread and continue the conversation in our private message.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Matt
