BQ76930: BQ76930 shutdown power consumption.

Part Number: BQ76930

Dear all,

we need your help in order to reduce the power consumption of the BMS in shutdown state.

In our BMS we adopted a low side mosfet as the enclosed pitcure.

Q3 = ZXMP10A13FTA

R4 = 1K

R1 = 1M

R2 = 1M

D2 = MMSZ5246B-7-F

In our appliance the load is always connected.

It create a current path of about 20 microA.

How can we reduce this current?

Thanks. Regards.

  • Hi Devis,

    The BQ76930 CHG and DSG drivers retain their pull down when in SHIP mode. RCHG_OFF is 1 Mohm nominal, and the voltages seem to support this.  To avoid the current if the load is not removed, you could remove R1 so that D1 blocks both turn off by the driver and the leakage when off.  The BQ76930 will not be able to sense the load present, but you know the load remains.  It will also require R2 to turn off the charge FET Q1 without the aid of (RCHG_OFF + R1), so you could make R2 slightly smaller if necessary with increased current during the ON time.

  • Many thanks for your prompt answer.

    Regards.
