UCC5870-Q1: PWM input frequency specification

Hello,

I would like to use the UCC5870-Q1 gate driver in a low-side switch application.

In my application the switch is used mainly in permanent-on or permanent-off state.

Can this kind of application be realised with the UCC5870-Q1 driver?

The pin "IN+" specification in the datasheet (page 3) implies a min. input frequency of  1 kHz., but the recommended operating conditions chapter defines only a max. frequency.  A charge-pump is also available inside the driver.

    UCC5870-Q1 can support 100% duty cycle with internal charge-pump circuit, below is a test waveform for 100% duty cycle, as you can see the OUTH/OUTL is always high (10ms for the waveform), and VBST to OUTH voltage is also stable as high.

     

    The IN+ 1kHz in datasheet page 3 is only the general recommendation for constant frequency switching, it is not the limit.
