ucc28950 current limit

Hi,

Is there a possible way to do current limit by lowering SS/EN pin voltage? In datasheet it states that SS pin is connected to error amp as non-inverting input and the lower one of the non-inverting inputs dominates, however i could not see that in tests.

  • Pulling SS down below typical 0.5V (Table, page 4) the IC will be dis-enabled. So it is ok to pull down SS to achieve hiccup over current protection. The EVM can be used to test and evaluate SS function on/off converter function by a simple external switch. Then proper current sensing circuit needs to be designed, which circuit can properly pull down SS to below typical 0.5V when the current exceeding a designed threshold through externally added protection circuit.
