Hi, I have six bq34Z100-G1s on a board that fuel-gauges an assortment of Li-ion batteries (3 x 14.4V, 2 x 7.2V, 1 x 3.6V). At this point these fuel gauges are running their native firmware (as shipped).
One of the 14.4-V fuel gauges is drawing ~40-mA, ~85-ms pulses every ~1 second. I understand that the fuel gauge may be in "Normal" mode and thus may be updating fuel gauging and data every 1 second--but 40 mA?? That's a battery drainer.
The other 5 fuel gauges on my board are apparently in a sleep mode; they draw current pules every 20 seconds--but these pulses are also huge: ~30 mA and ~125 ms long.
I see this behavior on three different boards.
Any idea why these current pulses are so large? And why would one fuel gauge behave differently from the other five?
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.
Chris
