LM5050-1: Body diode problem in LM5050

Hello TI Team,

 In the function block diagram, it seems that Body provides conduction path even Gate pin of MOSFET is OFF, So output is available through body diode even MOSFET is OFF. Please clearify it, How to resolve this problem?

    LM5050-1 is an ORing controller whose main functionality is to block reverse current. LM5050-1 is not intended to be used in application where forward current (from IN to OUT).

    Can you let us know your requirements, so that I can suggest you a suitable part for your requirement,

    • Protection features required : Current limit, reverse current blocking, input reverse polarity protection, Over Voltage Protection,  Output short circuit protection, input transient immunity etc ..

    Meanwhile you can have a look at LM7480-Q1 which is an ideal diode controller which can also block forward current and has OV protection.

    LM7480-Q1 is similar to IC that we need for our application, but will not serve our purpose because its input voltage range is 3-65V but our input range requirement is 80V. So please suggest part according to needed range.

    In current situation we need a part which have Oring, Inrush protection and reverse current protection features. Currently, we use the  Combination of Two ICs(LM5050 for Oring & LM5069 for Inrush  protection) that will fulfill our requirement. But we want single chipset that have our required features instead of using two IC chipset. So please suggest IC part according to our requirement.

    • Vin (max): 80V
    • Load Current (max): 10A
    • Total Cout : Not mention in datasheet
    • Protection features required : Atleast Inrush current protection, Reverse current protection features

    Unfortunately we do not have a part similar to LM7480-Q1 which can support higher voltage (80V).

    The solution you are using currently LM5050 + LM5069 is the best solution we can offer to achieve Oring, Inrush protection and reverse current protection features at 80V.
