Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25883,
Hello,
To have a rechargeable Li-ion battery (2s 18650), my circuit has the BQ25883 (Charger) together with the BQ28Z610 (Gas Gauge) on the same board with no connectors between them. Now, on the BQ28Z610 application example below from Texas Instruments we got at the PACK+ input C23+C25 in series for ESD protection and Q4+R68 for reverse polarity protection.
Since in my circuit it's all printed on the same board as the charger IC (no connectors), should I even include those protection components? The PACK+ input comes directly from the BAT pins (pins 13 and 14) of the BQ25883 charger IC via a PCB trace, so I don't believe reverse polarity will ever happen, neither electrostatic discharges. But I'd like to confirm first in case I'm missing something.
Thanks,
Eduardo
