BQ25703A: Regarding the bq25703a output current issue

Sir/madam.....

Input to the charger chip is 15V/2.4A and output setting are set to 12.6V/1.5A but output current observed is 0.5A what may be the issue....

    my charger doesn't have a system and i am not using prochot but the issue is the current is clamping to 310mA for some reason what may be the issue...

    What is your battery voltage? Can you share your register settings and schematic?

    The output current will be clamped to 384 mA if the battery voltage is below min system voltage.

    I have used 20mohm sense resistor at the output side will it cause an issue for this clamping thing and which registers should i use for only battery charging without system and i am not using prochot and i am using a 3s battery.

  • min system volatge i have kept into 9.23V and charge current to 1.2A  and max charge voltage to 12.3V and inout is 15V/2.4A....

    The reason is 20 mohm current sense. The charger detects the current sense voltage and calculates the charge current. 1A with 10-mohm has the same current sense voltage as 0.5A with 20-mohm. You will need to scale back the charge current setting if using 20-mohm current sense.

    Sir can you explain with an example and what are the registor settings that i need to consider without system only charger chip used for charging..

    like if i want to charge it like 12.3v/1.5A then the setting of min system voltage and charge current will be what sir...

  • If you target 12.3V/1.5A charging, set min system voltage =9.2V, charge voltage =12.3V, charge current=0x0BC0( 3A with 10 mohm). 

  • With 20m ohm resistor right sir 

  • If you target 12.3V/1.5A charging, set min system voltage =9.2V, charge voltage =12.3V, charge current=0x0BC0( 1.5A with 20 mohm). 

  • Sir I have added file with register Settings please check i am not able charge with expected current it is clamping to 384mA but voltages are fine...

  • When the battery is fully charged, the charge current will reduce or stop. Please raise the max charge voltage for fast charging.

    The battery is not yet fully charged i have raised the voltage setting to 14V but my battery maximum voltage is 12.6V and please check the register setting once please sir....

  • Could you provide the charge status register 0x20 value?
