Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25890
Dear All,
Our charger, build around a BQ258990H, exhibits a strange phenomenon. Charging the battery functions as desired.
But if we disconnect the power adapter (DCP) during the constant current mode the BQ25890H doesn't detect this and acts as if the battery is still being charged (STAT pin stays low).
What stands out is that VBUS is kept at 4.47V even at a light 100 ohm load. The VBUS voltage is even higher than the current battery voltage (4.08V).
OTG behavior with that note that OTG is disabled!
What I expect is that VBUS drops to 0V and the STAT pin becomes inactive (charging indicator LED turns off). Neither is true.
Hardware setting OTG pin grounded.
Software setting OTG disabled
Register values after disconnecting the DCP:
00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F 10 11 12 13 14
7F 01 1D 1A 3E 12 5E 89 00 44 73 76 00 12 00 00 00 98 00 08 1F
Explanation of a few register values:
(REG0B) VBUS_STAT = 011 -> DCP adapter connected
(REG0B) CHRG_STAT = 10 -> Fast charging
(REG0C) = 00 -> no faults
Measured voltages:
VBUS voltage before disconnecting: 5.03V
Battery voltage before disconnecting: 4.09V
VBUS voltage after disconnecting: 4.47V
Battery voltage after disconnecting: 4.08V
Anyone have an idea what is caused this Chicken and Egg phenomenon?
Best regards,
Patrick
