I split this post since it has nothing to do with the TPS61097 discussion in the other thread.
Which version of the TPS61041 do you have? Where did you purchase it from?
There is a link to the top side markings on the product page in the 'sample and buy' section. In addition, the datasheet indicates a pin 1 marking area for each package type. There should be something there to indicate which pin is 1. Can you post a picture of the IC?
I think I have figured it out . I went by the direction I could read information on the pin and took the lower left pin as pin number 1. Also I had another question is there a link for making the layout for TI devices and MSp430s packages like QFN.
At the end of every datasheet, there is a mechanical drawing for the IC. Follow those guidelines.
