BQ25792EVM: Device ACK Error

Part Number: BQ25792EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400, BQ25792, USB2ANY

 Hi,

BQSTUDIO is showing a Device ACK Error when connecting to BQ25792EVM when using EVM2400.

Please Note:
1) When I connect EVM2400 to a different eval board (BQ25713EVM) no ACK error occurs. Therefore its safe to assume EVM2400 works
2) When testing the BQ25792EVM, and the ACK error happened, the voltage on TP41 (Pullup) was around 1V and datasheet said it should be 3.3V
3) Traced error to VBUS voltage not being input voltage from Powersupply (was 0.5V instead of 9V)
4) Bypassed VAC1 circuits by populating JP3
5) Afterwards VBUS showed correct input voltage, and TP41 was at 3.3V (correct voltage)
6) The ACK error still occurred. |
7) Used scope to look at SDA and SCL please see attached image

Help would be appreciated in debugging this issue.

Thanks

  • Hi MFMF,

Did you try exiting BQSTUDIO, unplugging EV2400 from PC and re-attaching then restart BQSTUDIO?

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

I've tried all of these methods, still not working.

I'm able to use the EV2400 to communicate with a different TI eval board (so the EV2400 should not be at fault).

    Thanks

  • Hi MFMF,

I am sorry you are having trouble. The EVMs are tested with I2C communication at our vendor.  If the IC is not communicating on that EVM, there is no way I can think of to modify the EVM, other than remove and replace the IC.  Is that an option?

Do you have a USB2ANY box from TI?  We also have an online GUI for BQ25792 that uses that box.

Alternatively, I can ship you a new EVM for free.  You can private message me your mailing address through e2e private message.

    Regards,

    Jeff
