TL431: operating temperature range

Hi team, 

Customer are using TL431ACDR,  based on the experimental data, the case temp is 90°C， and ambient temp is 50-70°C, as i notice on datasheet, the recommended operating condition is 0-70°C, so i am wondering if TL431ACDR is good fit in this application?

    Hi Gene,

    The RoC recommends 70C for the highest for TA which you meet. The case temp shows that the Tj is 90 which is fine because its lower than the ABS max.

    The issue in this design is that while device is rated for 70C, the device performance might not meet the EC specs because Tj > 70C for parameters such as temp drift.

    I would recommend to go to the I or Q grade just to ensure that the temp drift is still predictable when Tj = 90C.
