BQ34Z100-G1: accuracy of SOC in the worst case

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1

HI TI team

We use the bq34z100-G1 as fuel gauge in our project. Could you tell me which cause will affect the accuracy of SOC in theory? And how to evaluate the accuracy of SOC in the worst case?

  • Hello Luo,

Many things can affect the accuracy, a lot depends on how well the gauge learned and is setup for the application.

Low and high temperatures with highly variable loads are the hardest applications to gauge accurately. To evaluate you will need to configure the gauge for the application and then also have an absolute scale of SOC for your battery to compare with the gauge reported SOC value.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt Keller

Thanks for your reply. If only focus on the SOC calculated by integral of current and simplify accuracy as below

SOC accuracy = (accuracy of bq34z100-g1) x (accuracy of external circuit)

Could you tell me how to evaluate/calculate the accuracy of bq34z100-g1(may include measure resolution, sampling frequency and so on)?

    Regards,

    Neo Luo

  • Hello Neo,

This application note may help you with the comparison you're trying to do: www.ti.com/.../slua455.pdf
