UCC28600-Q1: Feedback compensation circuit without Opto-coupler.

Part Number: UCC28600-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28600, TIDA-00386, UCC28700, UCC28630

Hello TI Power Management Gurus,

I want to design 150Vdc  to  +12Vd/5V output flyback converter with UCC28600. In the application 12V output, is not isolated and it is connected to primary 150V dc GND.  I want to use 12V output for closed loop feedback without using opto-coupler to save cost.

Can you suggested feedback compensation circuit for UCC28600 with opto-coupler?

Best Regards

Milan Rajne

  • Hi, Milan

    Could you help to clarify:

do you need compensation circuit for UCC28600 with or WITHOUT opto-couple?

    Yunsheng

  • Hello Yunsheng,

I am looking for compensation circuit without Opto-coupler.

    So the questions are:

    1. Can a resistive voltage divider circuit from 12Volt output (referred to same GND as UCC28600)  connected to feedback pin of UCC28600? If yes, how to design compensation because output pin of error amplifier (typical referred as COMP pin) is not available.

    2. If above method can not be used, what is circuit to be used for compensation without Opto?

    Best Regards

    Milan

  • Hi Milan,

It can't be simply connect resistive voltage divider circuit to FB pin to configure UCC28600 as a Primary Side Regulation.

if you want to save a Opto-coupler . I recommend you use a PSR controller such as UCCUCC28630

    Thanks.

  • Hello Yunsheng,

Yes I am aware about UCC28630. In fact, I used it TIDA-00386 BLDC ceiling fan design during my tenure in TI.

My present application is automotive, UCC28600 is AECQ100 qualified but UCC28630 not. UCC28700 is also AEC qualified but bit costly therefore I am looking a solution with UCC28600 without opto,

    Best Regards

    Milan

  • Hi Milan,

I believe the cost of UCC28700 is very close to UCC28600, even UCC28600 can be configured without Opto-coupler . the external circuit cost maybe will not lower than a Opto-coupler .

    Thanks.
