TPS65217: TPS65217 charging issues about CC and CV charge

Part Number: TPS65217
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352,

Hello TI e2e,
I'm using TPS65217B to manage the power for an AM3352 custom board.
When using a battery and V(AC)=5V,V(BAT) is about 4.2V and it seems to performing a constant-voltage charge without any constant-current charge.
The OCV of my battery (after discharge ) is about 3.7V.If I link it to V(BAT), why we can't see a constant-current charge?
And during my charging , I(AC) keeps dropping from 600mA to 200mA and sometimes V(AC) changes to 4.6V for a while.
Is this situation right?

Thanks.

Best regards,

Hanq

  • CC will occur from VLOWV (2.9V, VPRECHG=0b) to VOREG (4.1V, VOREG[1:0] = 00b) unless the Dynamic Power-Path Management (DPPM) determines it is necessary to divert current from the battery (BAT) to the system (SYS). The CC fast-charge current ICHG (500mA typical, ICHRG[1:0] = 10b) may decrease when DPPM is in effect (see Figure 12. Power Path Management on page 28 of the TPS65217 datasheet).

The behavior you are describing sounds normal.

  • Thank you for your reply. It resolved my issue.
