TPS3779: Input Resistor divider selection

Part Number: TPS3779

Hello,

I am using TPS3779 part in my design for sensing 3.3V and 1.5Vdc voltages. I had used 10Kohm and 6.65Kohm voltage divider network for 3.3Vdc monitor;  6.65Kohm and 49.9Kohm divider network for 1.5Vdc monitoring with 1% tolerance values.

as per the datasheet, it says the resistor divider current should be 100X times input sense current, is it really needed to consider like that or else the values what I am using in my design is good to go ahead with all the temperature ranges from -40deg C to 100deg C temperature ranges?

I am considering that the values in datasheet considered for battery operated applications so to avoid power consumption, it might be used.  is there any impact if we use very higher values with 1%?

Please confirm.

Thank You

  • Hi Bhargav,

The input current for both SENSE pins is +/-15nA.  100x current through the resistor divider can be 1.5uA or larger.  I believe you can increase your resistor values for both SENSE inputs.
