BQ40Z50: Possibility to use a small size resistor

Hi,

Customer is checking  if  they could use a 1206 1/2W 300Ω resistor at below position. In TI EVM is a 2512 1W 300Ω. Limited by the size of PCBA, customer want to know the possibility to use a small size resistor. if not, please kindly suggest the reason. thanks.
