TPS92561: Using TPS92561 for 5V to 150~200VDC / 0.001A application

Part Number: TPS92561

Hi all,

My customer need a boost function for high voltage /light load application in printer. Do you think TPS92561 is suitable for 5V to 150~200VDC / 0.001A application? Or any other simple solution is recommend? Thanks for your kindly help.

Regards,

Gary Teng

  • Hi Gary,

Do you mean the output current is only 1mA? Let me check it first.

  • Hi Sean,

Yes. Only need 1mA output and 150~200Vdc in printer application.

  • Hi Gary,

From my understanding, it will has very worse current accuracy for 1mA current application. And I wnat to check with you about the application, do you need to control the output current? Or you are just looking for a AC-DC power solution? is it used to drive the LED load?

  • Hi Sean,

Customer don't care about current accuracy. They just need a high voltage DC power source and very low current spent.  It's not used for LED load. Or do you have other simple suggestion for 5V to 150Vdc application? Thanks for your kindly help.

    Best regards,

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

Since from 5V to 150V, the regulation ratio is too large whcih usually needs a transformer and I woudl suggest you to refer to this page to look for the right part: www.ti.com/.../overview.html

And since I'm only responsible for the LED drivre product family, I woudl suggest you post a new question about the detail requirment and other expert from other product line will help you.

  • Hi Sean,

We know transformer and charge pump solution to boost, but customer want a simple solution to generate high voltage from 5V... So do you think TPS92561 can boost 5V to 150V? If not, we'll let customer know. Thanks for your response.

    Regards,

    Gary

  • Hi Gary,

The minimum supply voltage for the TPS92561 would be 6.5V, so it is not recommend to use this device boost from 5V to 150V application.
