In using your reference design, during light load conditions, the part enters pulse skipping mode on the 1.1V rail. In this mode, when it enters high impedance state the switch node rings as expected. On the first ring, the body bottom body diode clamps the switch node to about 1 V below ground for about 100ns. This is how I would expect everything to behave. However, your datasheet says that excursions beyond 0.3 V below ground cannot exceed 10ns. This behavior can be seen the attachment (circled in white). Our customer is asking for a statement from TI that says this behavior will not damage your part.
