TPS386000: Sense pins on TPS386000RGPT

Part Number: TPS386000

hello

in our current design we are seeing some strange delay behaviors on the RESET pins.  Anyhow is connecting all of the sense pins to a single voltage divider a problem for this chip?  From all of the figures in the datasheet, each of the sense pins has a dedicated voltage divider.  The datasheet does not specifically say that a common voltage divider is a problem.

Please assist

Thanks

Layne

  • Hi Layne,

Yes, you can connect all the sense pins to a single connection for the TPS386000.  Just be careful with SENSE4 because there are two pins (L and H) indicating you wanted to sense an over voltage or under voltage.

  • hi ben

thanks for the confirmation.  Yes the SENSE4_H is connected to ground.

right now we are seeing that these supervisors are sometimes never tristating one or more outputs.  Furhtermore we have seen the delay we are setting is different across boards.  its weird as we have used them in the past.  only the circuit has changed.  We are now suspecting that the efuse which powers a switcher which then feeds the supervisor's sense pin (voltage divider), may have a ramp up problem that is too slow for the supervisor.

  • Hi Layne,

    Keep me posted.
