BQ40Z50-R2: Odd PCHG flag

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ40Z50

Hey team,

One of my customers is testing his battery pack for Cell Undervoltage and has run in to an issue where PCHG is being toggled for some reason:

  • I discharged to the value I have in my data memory: 2500mV with 1s delay (maybe too quick of a delay?).
  • The battery pack shutdown at 2500mV and recovered at 2600mV. I let the battery pack cycle from shutdown to recovery about 5 times.
  • After the test the CHG register was low and the PCHG register was high.  If PCHG register is high then the drive voltage from the BQ40z50 to the charge FET is low so the FET is open.
  • After sitting for over 3 hours the battery pack works and charges.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I'll have a .gg file later today hopefully.

Thanks as always!
