BQ25731: Comp1 and Comp2 values

Part Number: BQ25731

We tried using the comp values in the datasheet, but the BQ25731 doesn't power up (we're always powering a 20V VBUS), it comes up to 20V for a few ms then turns off.

I used the below comp configuration and it works just fine. My concern is that, the datasheet is pretty explicit about the values. Is it okay to change these values or thoughts on why the device turns off after a few ms?

  • Hi, Nicholas,

TI recommends compensation values since we did intensive validation test, they are proven to work in the target applications. It is Okay to change these values but not suggested. It usually indicates a fault condition if the charger could not startup, such as battery removal, system short etc.
