BQ25611D: BATFET_DIS bit is set to 1 automatically

Hi there,

From the spec, when b125611d is over-current, BATFET_DIS bit is set to 1. So I poll it every 10seconds to check if b125611d is over current. But occasionally, this bit is set to 1, about several hours, and I do not think b125611d is over current. I use DC supply to power it. Do you have any idea about it?

The words come from the spec image.

With I2C, when the BATFET turns off due to over-current, the device sets the BATFET_DIS bit to indicate the
BATFET is disabled until the input source plugs in again or one of the methods described in the BATFET Enable
(Exit Ship Mode) section is applied to re-enable BATFET.

What is happening over these hours? Is a battery being charged? Is there a load present on SYS? Please elaborate a bit more on this.

Hi Ricardo, thanks.

two senarios:

1. No real battery, I use battery emulator to test fast charge exp timer, and no DC supply, a 2.4A charger is connectted to usb port. and charge battery emulator. and a develop board is supply by VSYS. no other actions, just test fast charge exp timer.

2. no charger, connect DC supply to VBAT and GND.

and the BATFET_DIS is not a fixed time. sometimes over 1hour, and sometimes about 2 hours. once after 6 hours BATFET_BIT is set to 1. I'll continue to find more details.

Does this persist even when the VSYS load is not present?
