BQ2022AEVM-001: Programming using EV2400

Hi,

Using bq2022A EVM with EV2400 as PC interface for programming the EPROM IC. Eventhough the firmware has been updated, PROG pin voltage is 0V.

Then we tried providing the voltage of 3.3V in PROG pin for 2.5ms externally, able to write in the IC.

As given in user guide how can we program bq2022A using EV2400 as the output from HDQ interface is needed for PROG pin.

Hi Anjanaa,

Can you check the firmware version of the EV2400? I believe it need v0.28 for communicating with the BQ2022A. The firmware and instruction for updating are available here: https://www.ti.com/tool/EV2400

Hi Matt,

We are trying in updated firmware (v0.28). There is no voltage in PROG pin

That's good that you have the correct EV2400 firmware. The PROG pin (VOUT3 pin 3.2 of EV2400 HDQ port) should generate a pulse only when programming is taking place. This is controlled by the BQ2022A evaluation software.

I assume you also have 12V connected to the board like in Figure 3-1 of the EVM User Guide and that J3 is installed?

Yes. We have provided 12V and J3 is installed.

Are you using an oscilloscope to monitor the PROG pin (VOUT3 pin 3.2 of the EV2400)?

Yes we are using.

2. Though we tried to write in all pages, unable to write in all pages. Only in Page 0 (Grid 0) we are able to write by providing the external 3.3V to PROG pin for 2.5ms.

Is tEPROG timing correct or any of the steps to follow?

Hi Anjanaa,

Unfortunately I do not have a BQ2022A board available to test this and do not have experience using the EV2400 for this device. I think the safest approach is to use the datasheet guidance and supply the programming pulse externally. The datasheet should be correct with regards to the programming pulse width (minimum is 2.5ms).
