Dear Sir or Madam,
We are trying to find a solution of power line communication for our LED lamps control system applications, with low cost and high data rate (at least 20k bps to 100k bps ), but it seems not easy to find active solution online search.
Could you please recommend a best PLC solution for us including develop kits with software support?
Thanks
Jian
  • Jian,

TI does not have a dedicated chipset for only PLC comms.

From C2000 MCU we have example HW/SW on adding PLC comms to a control system.  Typically the C2000 would be doing the system power conversion or motor control and this allows our customers to add PLC comms to those designs.  Not sure if you are already using a C2000 in your LED control as well, certainly this could be used for PLC alone if desired.

The examples below were specifically targeted to the SunSpec protocol used to communicate in a Solar Panel/Inverter installation.  All code is open source, I believe natively the FSK based soln runs at 10kbps; but it could be modified for multichannel or a different topology per your need.

    Documentation:

Analog Front End for PLC Comms with C2000

    HW:

    BOOSTXL-AFE031-DF1 (Analog front end)

    LAUNCHXL-F280049C (C2000 controller)

    SW(On TI REX)

    TX Example

    RX Example

    Best,
    Matthew

  • Hi Matthew,

Thank you very much for your information.

Yes, we are using f280049+AFE031 solution based on TI FSK based example, but it seems we can only implement less than 1k bps.

We expect to use OFDM but could not find open source.

    Anyways thanks again
