BQ76940: Accuracy specification of the NTC temperature sensing channel on the bq769x0 chipset

Part Number: BQ76940
Hello,

We've been trying to find the accuracy specification of the NTC temperature sensing channel on the bq769x0 chipset, however, this specification is only available for the cell voltage measurement channel.
We need clarification on the following:
1. What's the total unadjusted error on the temperature sensing channel?
2. What are the worst-case values of the ADC's offset, gain, INL errors?
3. Is the factory-calibrated GAIN + OFFSET compensation also applicable for the NTC temperature sensing channel?
  • Hi,

Unfortunately, it is not easy to answer #1 directly because the accuracy has several factors including:

    • The resistance of the thermistor with respect to temperature
    • The voltage of the internal 3.3V LDO used to bias the resistor/thermistor circuit
    • The resistance of the internal pullup resistor
    • The reference voltage of the ADC
    • The performance of the ADC

Regarding question #3, the cell voltage compensation (GAIN + OFFSET) is not used for the thermistors.

I will send you some information privately that may be helpful.

    Best regards,

    Matt
