Hi Team,

My customer is surveying TPS25947 and it could be placed at customer's power board, so the thermal performance is concerned. Customer would like to know is there a TPS25977EVM's thermal picture can be shared with him for refernece?

  • Hi Vincent,

    Customer can estimate the device junction temperature as Tj=TA(ambient temperature)+RθJA*Power Dissipation across device. For a 4 layer pcb with good amount of thermal vias under device as present in our EVM Channels the RθJA is around 42. In steady state operation the power dissipation will be some milliwatts and will not cause the junction temperature to rise to high values. During overcurrent or short circuit fault ,due to high power dissipation device junction temperature can rise to high value .This device has thermal shutdown feature that makes sure that device turns off when temperature crosses a certain threshold(TSD=154C) .
