LM5121: Over current limit during bypass operation

Part Number: LM5121

Hello Support team,

When VIN > VOUT, LM5121 would work as duty 100% and bypass operation. During this operation, can LM5121 current limit work properly? If yes, how LM5121 behaves? Does LM5121 turn disconnection SW off and latch off?

When LM5121 start up during bypass condition, does softstart work? If yes, please let me know the startup time.

Thanks,

Koji Ikeda

  • Hi Koji,

It will have the hiccup mode protection under this condition. The circuit breaker will be turned off and restart by the programmable RES pin. Please refer to details in datasheet 7.3 and 7.4. The startup will be a natural response under bypass so the softstart does not work. It depends on the input rise time and a little LC response delay.

    Thanks,

    Yinsong
