BQ25798: Battery Pack Manager Support

Hello,

Discovered the BQ40Z50-R2 (Battery Pack Manager) is well suited to integrate with the BQ25710 (Buck-Boost battery charge controller). This selection will largely meet our requirements for MPPT when using a solar panel, however, it was noted the BQ25710 requires a host to fully implement the MPPT functionality; leading us to the BQ25798.

Now the BQ25798 has an I2C control surface and no mention of Smart Battery integration.

Can we confirm the lack of Smart Battery support and possibly have a suggestion for an alternative to the BQ40Z50-R2 which integrates with the BQ25798?

    Hello Ryan,

    We usually recommend using a host for BMS systems to deal with any error handling between the charger and gauge. The bq40z50 is our flagship multicell gauge and will have the most features to handle any smart battery system.

    Currently the bq25798 is only being sampled and not fully released for production.
