TLC59282: Iref resistor value clarification

Part Number: TLC59282

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Looking at page 12 of the datasheet where it shows how to set up the resistor on IREF to ground. Our customer have a 50K resistor there to set the current at 1 mA, which is too low according to the recommendations. They need this low current to set the brightness on their LEDs. Is this going to cause any issues with the chip?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Art,

Yes the output is too low that we did not cover this condition during validation or ATE. Through I tried 50kohm on EVM before and the device can output current, the accuracy cannot be guaranteed.  There also have risk that the output cannot normally work. One workaround is setting 2mA for TLC59282 and parallel a resistor with LED, to divide the current.
