TPS65950 audio stereo analog inputs

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65950

Hi Guys,

Can I use TPS65950's stereo and analog inputs to get 3 channels of audio to my algorithm. I am looking for 16 bits stereo channels followed by one 15 bit channel through the analog input. Is this possible with the TPS65950 on the Furry board from InHand?

thanks,

  • Any update on this guys, it's urgent. Forget the Inhand board, this more like a general question about the TPS65950 chip. Thanks

  • Hi,

This device is capable of handling 4 channels. So, if you are in audio mode then ideally you can have this setup.

The data width is either 16-bit or 32-bit wide. You will have to use padding/buffer bits to satisfy this. Please refer the data formats in the TRM (page 713).

  • Gandhar,

Thanks for the answer but it is still not clear to me. Regarding the available inputs.... From reading through the TRM, it states multiple times that there are 2 ADCs. This implies that at most we can have two simultaneous audio input streams. From certain figures (e.g., the one on page 692), it looks like several input channels are multiplexed into these two ADCs -- but that there are still only two of them. So, even though the system handles 4 input channels, can these channels be active simultaneously? The 'simultaneous' is the key aspect here -- we need 3 simultaneous analog inputs in our application.

Also how many bits is the codec, is it 16 bits? where is this info, I am having hard time finding it.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi,

For three channels you will have to use the two analog channels and the digital microphone inputs. The combination can be:

    2 analog + 2 digital

    OR

4 digital paths. Digital interface can support 4 paths.

    Hope this helps.
