TPS53015: TPS53015DGS

Part Number: TPS53015

TPS53015DGS

Our company uses four TI TPS53015DGS as 4.2V,3.8V,5V and 3.3V. The working voltage range required in the specification of this power supply is 4.5-28V. The test found two serious problems, so it cannot be used normally at present.

1. When it is larger than 12V, 4.2V work is abnormal, and negative pulse of 2ms appears at 288ms, resulting in power loss of the main module and failure to start normally, as shown in the figure (20V).

2. When 12V is working, 4.2V works normally, but 90% of 3.8V power supply can not output power normally, only about 3.0V, occasionally positive output 3.8.

  • Hi,

Checked the SCH, one thing that I recommend to double check is the resistor between DRVL and GND. In DS, we recommend 6.8K to 75K, while in current design, it is only 18.2Ohm? Please double check first.

Peter will give you more comments.

    Thanks,

    Lishuang

As  mentions, it appears there is a problem with your gate drive.  DRVL is only rising to about 3V.  At 3V Vgs, the Rdson of the NTTFS4C06N MOSFET is rising extremely fast and highly dependent on process parameters like gate threshold variation.  Check the DRVL to GND resistors (R22, R26, R44, and R45).  These resistor should be 6.8k to 75k (I think the designer intended them to be 18.2kOhms)

If the resistors are 18.2kΩ  check the VREG voltage to see if it is 5.1V so we can understand why DRVL is only rising to 3V.
