UCC2897A: Maximum temperature variation

Part Number: UCC2897A

Hello team,

I received a question from my customer about temperature rise of UCC2897APWR and UCC27511DBVR.

Vdd=12V frequency=200kHz
 ①Active-Clamp PWM Controller  UCC2897APWR
 ②Gate Driver UCC27511DBVR

Though the temperature rise will vary depending on electrical use conditions and implementation, their circuit is not completely defined yet.

But they would like to estimate it by knowing how much the maximum temperature rise variation will be under described conditions.

Is this information enough to guess the temperature variation? If they should provide information about the entire circuit, I would be happy to receive your comment.

Best Regards,

  • Hi,

    The temperature rise is estimated by total power dissipation on each device. You need to calculate total power dissipation of each device then use each datasheet thermal information to estimate each device temperature rise.

    So an overall completed design (including all components selected) is needed in order to make estimation. Partial circuit cannot give you temperature rise estimation.
